Local Campground Information

HighPort Marina and RV Campground is 1.1 miles from the Tanglewood Resort. Highpoint Marina is a separate resort from Tanglewood. This campground has 15 sites; each pad is equipped with 50 amp electric, water, sewer, grill, and a picnic table.

There is a primitive campground near the marina with electric only. It is not suitable for larger motor homes and is not in reasonable walking distance to the hotel. More details are forthcoming for those who wish to "rough it".

Eisenhower State Park (on the shores of Lake Texoma) is 8.72 miles away from Tanglewood. Eisenhower State Park is a beautiful, wooded park with lots of hiking. It's easy to get to from the resort. Reservations can be made by calling 512-389-8900 or at www.tpwd.state.tx.us.

Lake Teoma is an 89,000 acre lake on the Red River is shared by Texas and Oklahoma. It is widely recognized as a top fishing lake, and is one of the most popular recreation destinations in the Southwest. Lake Texoma was built by the Corps of Engineers in the 1940's, and was stocked with black bass and crappie along with the native white bass in the Red and Washita Rivers.

The lake area includes two wildlife refuges, two state parks, fifty four U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-managed parks, twenty-six resorts, hundreds of campgrounds and a variety of excellent golf courses. Power boating, power sailing, personal watercraft, water skiers and wind surfers all consider the lake an excellent place to have fun. Lake Texoma has become a huge sailing center based on the lake's size, depth and miles of sailing shoreline.
